WHAT ARE THE CRITICAL ISSUES FACING YOUR COMMUNITY AND ITS MEMBERS?

Thinking under the topics of health, education, and financial stability, what obstacles and barriers do you see that could be keeping those in your local community from acheiving their full potential? What are the critical issues facing your community?

We rely on the input from community members to fully understand what the critical issues are and how we can best leverage our efforts to work to mitigate them.

Fill out the survey below to have your voice heard and inlcuded in our Eastern Idaho Community Needs Assessment.

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY CONVERSATION?

A Community Conversation is the process through which United Way turns to the community it serves, seeking their insight, knowledge, and input with regard to challenges facing the community we live in. We think there’s no one better equipped with the knowledge and insight about their community’s needs than those that live there. These are typically larger scale, kitchen table style conversations with community members ranging from your neighbor, your co-worker, and your friends, to local community leaders. We think that getting to hear the perspective of more than just experts on critical community issues helps us to identify the root of the struggles, challenges, and obstacles that members in our communities are fighting to overcome.

WHY DO YOU NEED MY INPUT?

With the input we receive, and the data we collect, United Way, EICAP, EIPH, and VOICE Advocacy will compile an Eastern Idaho Community Needs Assessment. Based off that assessment, the United Way Board of Directors will decide on a strategic direction with funding priorities for United Way and its grant funds collected through fundraising efforts. We want to know that we are doing the best thing we can with each dollar we raise to help build a stronger community. Additionally, EICAP and EIPH will use the findings detailed in this assessment to evaluate their current services and programs throughout their respective service areas.

WHO STANDS TO BENEFIT?

United Way strongly believes that we, as a collective community, all become stronger when we help those that need it most. Everyone deserves the opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health. These building blocks of health, education, and financial stability are the foundation needed for a good life.

Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connect- ed and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, and when people are healthy.

WHAT DOES UNITED WAY DO?

United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community.

We fight to improve people’s health through preventative actions and access to care - from expanding availability of healthy foods and quality healthcare to providing assistance to vulnerable populations.

We fight for children, youth, and adults to achieve their full potential by preparing them with the knowledge and skills they will need to be engaged and to ultimately build an educated workforce and stable community.

We fight for local families and individuals providing knowledge and support to better manage finances, teaching skills to obtain and keep jobs, and advocating for safe and affordable housing.

WHERE DO I BEGIN?

Think about your community, and those that you might know who are struggling with basic needs. Think about what obstacles you see keeping people in your community from achieving their full potential.
